Yesterday, High Power Moves was finally unveiled. You’ve been hearing a lot about this project here on Criminal Slang, so you might be wondering why this post is coming the day after the release. I spent most of the afternoon & the train ride home listening to the record, trying to pick out the standout tracks (there are many). I then decided to give the record a thorough listen and write about the track that resonated most with me.

Season Finale is cleverly placed as the last track on High Power Moves. A melody constructed from a bell tower, bookended by some high voltage, high frequency tones complements Jansport’s crisp drum selection & creates the space for some reflective and personal lyrics, which Hawdwerk delivers without fail. After three minutes and fifty-five seconds, I knew for certain that a fellow human being in the struggle knew what was inside of me, because they saw it in themselves. To have dreams outside of your surroundings, to learn how to make the best use of your gifts & carry on each day because someone is counting on you (or came and passed on) is the mark of a man choosing to fulfill a higher destiny. I salute you Hawdwerk!

These two will be rockin’ a special free show at Store13 in the heart of West Covina next Tuesday the 17th…if you can’t make it out, scroll down on the homepage here on Criminal Slang to watch the live broadcast from tv.hitekfx.com.
