Had a great time in Santa Ana at Sound Downtown last night/this morning…it was a great alternative to sitting 2+ hours in traffic to try to get home past the ring of fire.

Imagine a bar crawl transformed into a music/art festival – I’m looking forward to next years installment already. Someone described it as a min SXSW -without the doucebadged army. (FYI, there still were traces of the Xtreme body spray/self-tanner, & the cougar packs admist the ever-so-clever scensters, greaser kids, vatos, and laptop nerds)

Obey was in full effect, with the requisite art install/musical madness at The Crosby. I saw intense high-kicks and sweaty head banging-ish moves during Shepard Fairey as DJ Diabetic’s set…

Speaking of The Crosby – I caught the end of Nosaj Thing’s set and most of Nobody’s while nursing cheap beer…headed back to Memphis to link up with the homey Mike-ill & his posse before his set there and then cruised over to Bistro 400 for a little Afro-Cubanesque Jazzy Soulfuness before returning for his, ’sleeper-hit’, midnight set that brought people to their knees (literally, some girl just hit the floor haaard!).

The lights came up, people kept dancing, glasses were broken, swept up & the saga continues…
